What makes ONE length irons work?

The key is matching head weights. Since all clubs are built to 7 iron length, we increase the head weight on the longer irons and decrease the head weight on the shorter irons. As a result, every ONE Length iron has a matching head weight of 270g.

Why play ONE length?

A ONE Length set makeup reduces the number of variables in the swing. Posture, stance, and ball position becomes consistent throughout the set, leaving less room for error.

Are the ONE Length irons built with 7-iron shafts in every club?

We don’t use a 7-iron shaft for every iron. Each ONE Length iron uses the correct shaft for the corresponding head, however, each features an adjusted flex profile (flighted technology) to promote optimal trajectories for the long irons to the wedges.

Do we need different shafts or build instructions for custom shaft with ONE irons?

Every ONE Length iron has been re-engineered to match 7-iron head weight, therefore, any custom shaft (cut to 7-iron length) can work with any of the ONE Length heads.

What does changing the head weights do to performance for long irons and short irons?

Because the long irons have a shorter shaft, we have to add weight to the clubhead to make it heavier. This lowers the CG and increases inertia to produce more speed and higher ball flights. Conversely, we have to remove weight to the short iron/wedge heads in order to raise CG and reduce the inertia to produce a lower ball flight with greater control.

How is the ball flight of ONE length vs Variable length different? How do head weight changes affect ball flight?

With optimized CG’s, the ONE Length long irons and short irons fly very similar to their variable length counterparts. For most players the difference in the ball flights will not be noticeable. However, the ONE Length irons make it easier to swing more consistently with one setup and one swing, resulting in more centered contact on the face. TIP: if the short irons are flying slightly too high, we recommend playing the ball further back in your stance.

How do the changes in iron head weight affect the MOI in the ONE Length irons?

Long irons with more head weight, have higher MOI, which means that they will have a higher level of forgiveness on off-center hits compared to the variable length long irons. This is particularly true for golfers with moderate swing speeds that the ONE length product caters to. The short irons spin more due to their higher loft, so the lower MOI with the lighter head weight does not negatively affect the forgiveness.

How does ONE Length affect the distance gapping in my iron set?

In testing, we find that most players produce similar gaps with the ONE Length irons and variable length irons. This is due to the fact that loft is the most important predictor of distance in and iron, and all of the the lofts of the ONE Length irons match those of the variable length irons. In almost all cases, we see that the ONE Length irons produce better distance gapping since the ball striking consistency is greatly improved. Especially in the long irons, consistency of the swing combined with a centered impact location produces improved distance and trajectory.

How does the ONE Length construction affect the workability of the irons (ex: shot variety, knock downs, half shots, etc)?

Anything that a golfer can do with their 7 iron today, can be done with ONE irons.

Won’t the longer ONE Length ‘short’ irons and wedges be more challenging around the greens?

In testing, we have found that many players are better around the greens with ONE Length short irons and wedges versus their variable length counterparts. This is due in part to the fact that you use the same swing for your long irons as your shorter irons. Reducing the variability in your posture allows you to swing more consistently, and let the loft do the work. TIP: It’s easy to chip with a 7 iron, just remember that stance and setup with ONE irons is like your 7 iron today.

How do you play the ONE Length wedges out of the sand?

Set up to the shot using the same ball position and posture that you would use for a 7-iron. No need to add any more speed to your swing, as the loft and the bounce of the wedge will do the work for you with the same amount of effort. Once you try it, you will probably never go back to the shorter length wedges you were once accustomed to. The same applies to other touch shots around the green.

I noticed the blue grips feel slightly larger on the lower hand. What does this do versus a more conventional, tapered grip?

We have found that larger grips can benefit many players. A slightly larger lower hand, reduces grip tension which leads to more control and more power for many players. Very few players on tour use a standard size grip and some of the most popular aftermarket grips are midsize. In fact, in our tests with male golfers, 84% of golfers tested preferred a larger grip than standard size.
